Site Projects is pleased to announce the completion of the 2007 project, Vogrincic/New Haven: Art in the Canal, by Slovenian artist Matej Andraz Vogrincic. This is Vogrincic's American debut installation, paying tribute to New Haven’s history and identity in the process.

Visit the site of Vogrincic's installation now. The Farmington Canal has been tranformed from an abandoned rail cut to an amazing site-specific temporary work of art, using giant modular components, similar to parts of the Erector Set, which were originally manufactured by New Haven’s A.C. Gilbert Company.

Don't miss your last chance to view the installation in the Farmington Canal, now on view through the end of October.

Site Projects is also seeking suggestions for how to dispose of the materials: 70 cubic yards of clam shells, 70 cubic yards of crushed trap rock, 7,325 units of Connecticut sanded brick, and a total of 478 various pieces of Erector Set replicas sized to a 15x enlargement. Email suggestions to info@siteprojects.org

Browse the gallery and watch the videos to experience all steps of the production of this installation and see how the artist brought this forgotten place back into view in the urban landscape.

Visit this site again to learn more about this project and other exciting new artists Site Projects will bring to New Haven in 2008 and beyond.
